Most works of modern art are stuck in museums but this one still works for a living. In 1966 LAMY set out to design a truly modern pen. In common with science fiction writers of the time LAMY presumably thought 2000 was an impossibly long way off, and that it would surely be a world of wonder. From the perspective of the late noughties that seems endearingly innocent and optimistic, stuck as we are with collateralised debt obligations, but sadly without personal robots and jetpacks. Nice pen though. Available as the classic 2000 fountain pen or ballpoint, and now with rollerball, pencil and even 4-colour multi-pen options.
