Review of the Year 2015

Review of the Year 2015

Well, where on earth did that year go? After a full-on 2014 completely rebuilding our website and computer systems we were planning on a calm, quiet 2015. In the event it was relatively calm, but definitely not quiet.

During 2015 we added lots of new brands including Clairefontaine, Nomadic, Atoma, DUX, Perpetua, Tomoe River, S.T. Dupont, Conklin, OLFA, Quiver, Blundell Harling, Lihit Lab, Field Notes, Karas Kustoms, LOQI and Sailor. We now have over 14,100 individual stock items from 100 brands.

In May we celebrated 10 Years of Cult Pens with a Grand Day Out for all our staff.

We launched our very own Cult Pens Double-Knock Mechanical Pencil, along with the third edition of our popular Cult Pens Mini Fountain Pen.

Adult Colouring was the surprise trend of the year – who’d have guessed that colouring books and colouring pens and pencils would be the low-tech, must-have for 2015?

Our wonderful customers came through once again with a tremendous response to our Pens For Kids Appeal – an unbelievable 110,000 pens are on the way to Africa this year.

It was also yet another record year of business for us.  We’ve sold more pens than ever before whilst maintaining our legendary lightning despatch and top-flight customer service. That takes some doing for a small business, so a huge thank you to the hard-working team here that makes that possible - Michael, Matt, Lynn, Andrew, Louise, Nick, Tammy, Helen, Becky, Martin, Lindsey and Anna; newbies Karen, Mike, Matthew, Mark and Lauren; and not forgetting our tireless morale-booster Herbie the Spaniel. And of course a big thank you to our customers, for your support in 2015.

While we’re in a reflective mood we'd like to offer up a couple of Cult Pens awards.  Brand of 2015 goes to Diamine. They released a hotly-anticipated new product in 2015 which exceeded even their hopes yet they still managed to provide their usual impeccable service to us – which in turn means we can provide a great service to you. Our 2015 Product of the Year meanwhile goes to the Kaweco Brass Sport range - because it's just lovely.
