S. T. Dupont began making luxury goods for travellers in Rue Dieu in Paris, in 1872. But it wasn't until 1973, at the request of Jackie Kennedy Onassis, that they made their first pen. With hindsight, it was probably an obvious thing to do. They were well respected for their lighters, which are a combination of precision mechanisms and jewellery-grade finishes, made to be stylish accessories. The same skills and craftsmanship translate perfectly to making pens.
The Liberte is a distinctive long cone shaped pen, with straight sides narrowing toward the end. The practical internally-sprung clip adds a little curve to the lines, while the natural lacquer body makes it comfortable and nice to hold.
140mm long, 7.5-13.5mm wide, weighs 38g.
