Conrad Gessner (1516-1565) was - besides being a leading botanist, zoologist, physician and linguist - one of the first people to document the pencil. His sketches from 1565 describe a hollow shaft, into which you insert a lead and a tapering wooden split sleeve which holds the lead in place.
From these sketches and Gessner's description, Cleo Skribent have created their own version of this classic pencil.
The Cleo Gessner stays true to the original sketches, with the shaft being turned from a single piece of wood, with a stylised topper which somewhat resembles a chess piece. The 5.6mm lead is held in place by a separate wooden shim, which can be easily removed to allow the changing of leads.
155mm long not including lead.
This version is supplied in a simple, rustic jute pouch.
