Kaweco FAQ
What’s the history of Kaweco?
Kaweco are a German company founded in Heidelberg in 1883. Despite clearly being proud of that heritage - they include the year ‘1883’ on their logo - they have consistently been innovative in the making of their fountain pens.
The original Kaweco went out of business, but the brand was brought back by pen enthusiast Michael Gutberlet, who loved their old designs - the current range is very heavily inspired by Kaweco pens of old.
What makes Kaweco different?
Being an innovative designer of pens means that Kaweco has a fairly broad range of styles. That includes a variety of shapes, like their octagonal caps; materials used, like aluminium and brass; or sizes, like the pocket-sized Liliput.
Recommended Kaweco products
The mainstay of the Kaweco range since they were first made in 1911 is the Sport. It exemplifies the design philosophy of 'small in the pocket, large in the hand’ concealing most of its length inside its own cap, making it comfortable to write with once that cap is placed on the end.
Being around since 1911 means Kaweco have had time to experiment, so the Sport range comes in a lot of different styles such as the Brass Sport, Frosted Sport and Skyline.
If you’re looking for something a bit more unusual, we have the Kaweco Collection. This selection of pens is from the usual Kaweco pen ranges, but with different colours and finishes that Kaweco have been trying, available in limited quantities, or for a limited time.
