Light Blue is a surprisingly popular colour and a useful alternative to red.
Light blue has always been a popular choice in fountain pen inks, but has also become readily available in gel or liquid ink rollerball pens - it's possibly a favoured colour in Japan as most are Japanese pen models. It shows up well against black or standard blue text, so it's a useful alternative for marking up or corrections.
Aesthetic note: While light blue and turquoise mean completely different colours to an artist, designer or the casual aesthete, they are terms that tend to be used interchangeably by pen companies (a 'lost in translation' effect we suspect). The vast majority of 'turquoise' inks are light (cyan) blue.
