All the fountain pens in the Graf von Faber-Castell collection are equipped with nibs made of 18-carat gold with an iridium tip. Manufacturing such a nib is an elaborate process involving over hundred steps, most of them carried out by hand. Each nib is then run in by hand. All standard Graf collection nibs are currently available as extra-fine, fine, medium, broad, oblique medium or oblique broad. All nibs are suitable for left-handed writing. Please refer to the notes below to help you make your choice. |
| EF - Extra-fine, straight nib. For delicate hand-writing with no pressure. Very fine strokes. |
| F - Fine, straight nib. For small handwriting, light pressure. Fine strokes. |
| M - Medium, straight nib. Suitable for any handwriting. Average-width strokes under normal pressure. |
| B - Broad, straight nib. For large handwriting and signatures. Powerful broad strokes under normal pressure. |
| OM - Medium, oblique nib with left slant. The oblique angle allows fine upstrokes and broad downstrokes, giving characteristic handwriting. |
| OB - Broad, oblique nib with left slant. As the OM nib above, but with broader and more forceful strokes. |
