A note about the COPIC colour numbering system
Example: R08. The R stands for the colour family Red ( B for Blue, BG for Blue-Green, G for Green, YG for Yellow-Green, Y for Yellow, YR for Yellow-Red, RV for Red-Violet, V for Violet, BV for Blue-Violet, E for Earth, N for Neutral, C for Cool Grays, W for Warm Grays). The last number, 8 in this case, is how dark it is. So R59 would be darker than R08, but R08 would be darker than R20, because 8 is higher than 0. The number after the letter(s) is the colour tone or the brightness/dullness of a colour. In the case of R08, it has a slight orange feel, but an R59 has almost a red-violet tint. When shading an object, try to use two shades of the same colour family, the lighter one for midtones and the darker one for shadows. |
