Caran d'Ache invented the modern clutch pencil in 1929 with the Fixpencil - the first leadholder to feature the now-ubiquitous spring clutch mechanism. The aluminium body in classic hexagonal style gives strength with lightness and the electrostatic powdercoat finish is extremely hard-wearing. Available with 2mm or 3mm lead, both featuring lead sharpeners inside the button.
