A real original, the Caran d'Ache 849 has been in production since 1969, racking up over 15m sales. This special edition 849 Original celebrates with a unique finish - tough clear lacquer over a raw aluminium barrel, with matt aluminium clip and push-button - and a gift tin with 3D sculpting. Please note: These pens are finally re-released (December 2008) after an absence of 9 months due to a manufacturing problem - the new stock has a much more 'raw', almost weathered, metal finish underneath the lacquer.
